Through the Outing Club, I have done more hiking since starting college than throughout my first 18 years. I have come a long way from one of my earliest memories of the backcountry, when I was so badly bitten by mosquitoes that I proclaimed, “I HATE camping! I want to go to a ho-tel!” I am incredibly grateful to have bounced back from my days as a mosquito magnet by picking up hiking in college. Trips to the White Mountains have not only offered a respite from campus, but also a dose of perspective and opportunities to connect with people (over periods much longer than the typical Harvard meal).
