Blog Sundays: Amy Lu

Growing up, I never really enjoyed hiking because of my poor cardio fitness and mosquito bait blood, but then I went on FOP and completely changed my view on hiking and being outdoors. I think that HOC is one of those rare groups on campus where students not only come from all sorts of backgrounds and interests come together, but they also do it with no ulterior purpose;  we all just share a love of the outdoors. And being able to learn about equipment and go on trips that I didn’t even know that I qualify for has been amazing. In December, I went on my first ever snow hike to Mount Cannon and had the time of my life (especially because my spikes saved me from falling to my peril).

Amy Lu (Class of 2023) “recently converted to the outdoors” has been a participant on HOC trips since Fall 2019
